Wired, Wireless, Bluetooth headsets... What does it all mean?
Super Seer offers a complete line of Setcom helmet communication systems, including Helmet Kits, for police officers using a variety of helmet types including half-shell, three quarter, modular and full face helmets.
What is a helmet kit?
A helmet kit is a headset that is mounted near the officer's head and consists of a microphone and speakers that allows a police officer to send and receive radio transmissions. Helmet kits are typically mounted semi-permanently onto a helmet to allow for hands-free operation.
Half-Shell Helmet Kit
Half-Helmet Kits are needed when attaching helmet communication systems to a half-shell police motorcycle helmet, such as the
Super Seer S1602 fiberglass helmet or the
Super Seer S2108 carbon fiber half-shell police motorycle helmet. The half shell helmet kit is typlically attached externally to the leather strap on the helmet using snaps. Any Seer police motorcycle helmet can be equipped with special "Pull-The-Dot" snaps which are required to attach a heaset. The Pull-The-Dot snaps are special "locking snaps" that only release when pulled in one direction (see below).
These snaps when properly mated with the helmet and the headset proved a rugged, secure mount for police officers on motorcycles, dirt bikes, UTVs or ATVs. Half shell helmet kit features include:

- Option to slide up or snap on to helmet

Three Quarter Helmet Kits
Full Coverage or 3/4 helmets, such as the
Super Seer S1642 three quarter shell police motorcycle helmet do not use snaps to install a helmet kit. Instead the inside of the helmet shell is used to mount the boom mic and speakers to the inside of the helmet. The boom microphone, and dual speakers are installed inside the helmet using a semi-permanent mounting process. During installation the boom micprohone is rigidly mounted to allow certain movements without losing the position of the microphone. The wiring for the speakers, microphone and pigtail are carefully run along the inside of the helmet and secured in place. This installation secures and hides the electronic wires while still be accessable if a repair should be necessary. Since 1991, Super Seer has been professionally installing headsets following specific installation procedures created by our in-house master electronics expert. We take time and attention to detail to make sure that each helmet kit is installed professionally and securely. Features of the 3/4 helmet kit include:
- For most full face, modular, and three-quarter shell helmets.
- Available in single or dual ear speaker systems
- Thin, lightweight speakers (less than 2 oz.) provide maximum comfort.
- A modular plug makes the speakers easy to repair or replace, should the need arise.
- Simple, non-intrusive install
- Repairable
Modular Helmet Kits
Like 3/4 helmets, modular helmets, such as
LS2 Valiant II motorcycle helmet,
HJC RPHA-90S Carbon fiber motorcycle helmet,
NOLAN N100-5 police motorcycle helmet also require an internally mounted helmet kit. The inside of the helmet shell is used to mount the boom mic and speakers to the inside of the helmet.
